The "Espo'Art" project is an innovative initiative aimed at fostering joint reflection on the dynamics of coexistence among young people of various ethnic backgrounds in Pristina born after the war. Participants will collaborate to create a show that combines contemporary dance with other art forms like music and slam poetry.

The project unfolds in two stages over approximately 12 months. The first stage involves rehearsals and the creation of a show, and the second stage presents the show to the public in different countries.

The "Espo'Art" project aims to create a positive dynamic during rehearsals, enhance participants' skills, promote mutual cultural belonging, combat stereotypes, create shared experiences, and share these experiences with the public.

The project hopes to connect to the general public, as well as professionals in social and artistic fields, through its live performances and roundtable discussions involving local organizations, on themes of cultural diversity, coexistence, and public challenges.

Collaborating organizations include: Termokiss, REC - Reconciliation Empowering Communities, Roma Versitas Kosovo, The Ideas Partnership, Balkan Sunflowers Kosova, and People in Need.

Background: The war in Kosovo ended in 1999, but tensions among the parties involved continue. New generations have been born amidst this tense atmosphere and are striving to build their lives despite the challenges. Many have grown up believing that their neighbors, who speak a different language, have ill intentions towards them, contributing to ethnic divisions. Media and politicians work to maintain this anxiety-inducing memory, hindering prospects for harmonious coexistence. International and local organizations have been working to ease inter-ethnic relations, but tensions persist.

This initiative is intended to foster understanding and coexistence among young people in a complex social and political context. It emphasizes an intercultural artistic process and aims to promote mutual recognition and encourage living together harmoniously through creative expression.
