Overseas Culture Interchange and Ioannis Mandafounis’s company are joining forces for a large-scale artistic, social and local project, Danse(in), in collaboration with institutions working with migrant populations. Over a 3-year period, we worked with the Hospice général accommodation centers for migrants of Tattes (Vernier), Rigot ( Geneva), Prailles-Gavard (Carouge), BAC (Lancy), Seymaz (Thônex), Aïre and Anières, as well as at Rinia Contact, a center for intercultural exchanges and activities (Geneva).

This ambitious program brings together professional artists, migrants as well as local amateurs in creative workshops. Numerous public highlights - open houses, performances, exhibitions - took place throughout, forging links with Geneva's population while promoting culture by all, not just for all.

Based around creative workshops developed by some twenty artists, participants are accompanied through the practice of writing, music, drawing, photography and ceramics. The aim was to emancipate ourselves through art and find the common ground that brings us together. Dancing to reincarnate, putting words to a thought, declaiming one's story are all actions considered as works of art in their own right.
